I fail entirely to understand how the Jepancye

Consul General at Canton or any other o ngidereble Japanese

authority could give credence to the rumour that the use of

the Hong Kong aerodrome would be permitted to Chinese or

Japanese Military aeroplanes, this obviously abaurd story

has been repeated by the Japenese Consul General this

morning to the Colonial Secretary and I instructed the

latter to expreus my surprise and resentment at the

imputation against this Colony a neutral attitude when hee

alwayu been strictly maintained,
